Nutrition plays a pivotal role in reproductive health, affecting hormone balance, egg quality, and overall reproductive function. Studies show that adopting a healthy diet and making nutritional adjustments can significantly improve fertility outcomes. It’s not just for women! Optimising nutrition in men can have significant impacts on sperm quality, so it’s important that men also optimise their nutrition preconception.

Improvements in Nutrition can support:
Hormonal Balance:
Balancing hormones is critical for fertility. Research published in the journal Fertility and Sterility suggests that specific dietary modifications under the guidance of a dietitian can positively impact hormonal balance, aiding in regular ovulation and improving sperm quality.
Addressing Deficiencies:
Nutrient deficiencies can hinder fertility. Studies show that correcting specific deficiencies, such as folic acid, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids, can improve fertility outcomes. Working with a dietitian to address these deficiencies can lead to a 25% increase in pregnancy rates, as highlighted in research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. It’s much more involved than choosing between Elevit or Blackmores Fertility supplements – adjusting your diet to address any nutrition deficiencies is always the best choice when possible.
Weight Management:
Maintaining a healthy weight range is crucial for fertility. Research from the National Institutes of Health indicates that achieving a healthy weight through proper nutrition and lifestyle changes, guided by a dietitian, can increase fertility rates by up to 55% in women struggling with weight-related infertility.
