Santanu Baruah, or as our patients affectionately call him, ‘Dr. Sunny,’ is the Founder and Medical Director of Oasis Fertility Centre.

Dr. Baruah commenced his career in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine (CRM) in St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the London Fertility Centre on Harley Street, London, before establishing his base in Perth in 2009. His extensive experience and expertise encompass a range of Assisted Reproductive Treatment (ART) procedures, including the latest advancements in reproductive medicine. Proficient in all facets of ART, such as IVF, controlled ovarian stimulation programming, transvaginal egg collections, HyCoSy, IUI, MESA/TESA, and embryo transfers, Dr. Baruah has, over 19 years, prescribed more than 5000 cycles of IVF and performed corresponding numbers of egg collections and embryo transfers.


With a background in various fertility clinics in Australia and abroad, Dr. Baruah brings his wealth of experience to assist patients in realizing their dream of parenthood.

In addition to his prowess in reproductive medicine, Dr. Baruah is an accredited surgeon capable of performing advanced gynaecological laparoscopy surgeries of level 5/6. His commitment to excellence has earned him prestigious recognitions, including the COEMIG (Centre of Excellence in Minimal Invasive Surgery) awards in 2015 and 2018, along with the Master Surgeon award in 2018 from the Surgical Review Corporation of the USA. Dr. Baruah holds notable credentials, including Fellowship of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Fellowship of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK), and memberships in international professional associations such as the American Association of Gynaecologic Laparoscopists, the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, and the Fertility Society of Australia & New Zealand.

Dr. Rajni Bansal is a highly skilled gynaecologist specializing in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Her extensive experience in assisted reproductive technology and her dedication to helping individuals and couples achieve parenthood define her distinguished career.

Dr. Bansal completed her medical training at the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. She has spent years refining her expertise in diagnosing and treating various fertility challenges. After relocating to South Africa, she established an infertility clinic at a provincial hospital, where she successfully assisted many couples in conceiving.

Renowned for her compassionate patient care and commitment to staying updated with the latest advancements in reproductive medicine, Dr. Bansal distinguishes herself as a leading fertility specialist. She offers a personalized approach, understanding that each patient’s fertility journey is unique. Known for her educational and empowering approach, she guides patients through options such as in vitro fertilization, intrauterine insemination, and other fertility treatments with empathy and support.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Bansal is actively involved in Perth-based hospitals and serves as a clinical adjunct at Curtin University, where she contributes to both patient care and academic research in her field.

Fertility Specialist, Gynaecologist & Advanced Gynaecological Surgeon

Sherif is an internationally trained Specialist Gynaecologist, fertility specialist and advanced keyhole surgeon with more than 25 years of clinical experience across the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia. He is recognised for his expertise in advanced laparoscopic, hysteroscopic and robotic gynaecological surgery, with a particular focus on fertility-preserving reproductive surgery, severe endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain.

Sherif completed his postgraduate training and medical research in the United Kingdom, followed by advanced surgical training across specialist units in the UK, France, New Zealand and Australia. He holds a Master’s degree in Infertility and Reproductive Medicine (UK) and a Diploma in Gynaecological Operative Endoscopic Surgery (France). He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and the International College of Surgeons.

A major focus of Sherif’s fertility practice is the surgical management of conditions that affect fertility, including endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic adhesions and uterine cavity abnormalities required advanced operative hysteroscopy. His approach places particular emphasis on fertility-preserving surgery, aiming wherever possible to restore normal pelvic anatomy while minimising unnecessary damage to the reproductive organs.

Sherif has particular expertise in advanced and deep infiltrating endometriosis, including complex disease affecting pelvic organs. In Western Australia, he established a dedicated Advanced Surgical Endometriosis Service for women with severe and complex endometriosis disease.

His surgical expertise includes advanced laparoscopic and robotic fertility-preserving surgery and complex excision of endometriosis. He also manages menstrual disorders and a broad range of other gynaecological conditions, including those requiring minimally invasive hysterectomy where fertility preservation is no longer required or appropriate.

Away from medicine, Sherif is married and a proud father of five daughters - so, as a gynaecologist, he often jokes that he is surrounded by women both at work and at home! When he manages to escape, he enjoys fishing, motorcycling and spending time outdoors with his family.

Dr. Deepika Arora is a highly skilled and dedicated Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She began her medical journey in India, where she graduated with distinction from a renowned university. Following her graduation, she completed her specialist training in India and practiced as a Gynaecologist for several years.


Her career took a significant turn when she moved to the scenic landscapes of New Zealand. There, she completed her training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, earning the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG). Dr. Arora’s career in New Zealand has spanned both the public and private sectors, allowing her to gain extensive experience and expertise. During this period, she also earned a Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery.

As part of her commitment to medical education, Dr. Arora played a key role as the GTA coordinator at the University of Auckland, where she taught essential gynaecological skills to medical students. Her dedication to teaching and mentoring has left a lasting impact on the next generation of medical professionals.

Passionate about reproductive medicine, Dr. Arora is proficient in a wide range of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) procedures. Her approach is rooted in personalized and evidence-based care, ensuring that every individual and couple receives the support they need on their unique journey to parenthood. Dr. Arora understands the varied challenges faced by individuals and couples, and she is committed to providing comprehensive, compassionate, and patient-centered care.

Fluent in both Hindi and English, Dr. Arora is also learning Mandarin to further enhance her communication skills and cultural understanding. Her sensitivity to cultural diversity and her respect for others’ opinions and traditions make her an effective and empathetic communicator.

Dr Shahnaz Aali is a distinguished fertility specialist at Oasis Fertility Centre, bringing with her over a decade of experience in helping individuals achieve their dreams of parenthood.

A graduate of a renowned medical university, Dr Aali earned her medical degree with honours before specializing in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1990. Further training and observational courses at Royan Institute of Infertility, Iran; Cambridge University, UK; and Monash Medical Centre, Australia led her to achieve a Fellowship in Assisted Reproductive Technologies and Infertility in 2008. On a sabbatical leave to Australia as a professor from Kerman University of Medical Sciences, she pursued her commitment to knowledge and expertise. She achieved the fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) in 2014.

Her wealth of experience and expertise extend to various ART procedures, including ovulation induction, egg retrieval, embryo transfer, and the latest advancements in reproductive medicine. Dr Aali’s commitment to staying abreast of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies ensures that her patients receive the most innovative and effective treatments available. She approaches her consultations with compassion and sincerity. Dr Aali continues to provide a public service as a Consultant at Rockingham Hospital.

Dr Jana is an experienced Fertility Doctor dedicated to supporting individuals and couples on their journey to parenthood. Her commitment to women’s health began a decade ago and has deepened through extensive education, clinical experience, and hands-on training in fertility care.

She completed her MBBS (Honours) at the University of Western Australia, followed by the Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRANZCOG). During this training, she developed a strong interest in endometriosis and was deeply moved by the fertility challenges many women face, an experience that sparked her enduring passion for reproductive medicine.

Dr Jana has since worked in two local fertility clinics, building her clinical acumen and broadening her understanding of reproductive care. Since joining Oasis Fertility Centre, she has continued to receive intensive mentorship and works under the clinical supervision of our Medical Director, Dr Santanu Baruah.

Dr. Danielle Vlahov is a dedicated medical professional who completed her medical school and General Practitioner training in Western Australia. With a strong focus on women’s health, she earned her diploma from the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRANZCOG) at King Edward Memorial Hospital.

Dr Danielle has further honed her expertise by obtaining a certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health and contributing her skills to various Obstetric and Gynaecology departments in hospitals across WA. She is a member of the Fertility Society of Australia & New Zealand.

Committed to a holistic approach to patient care, Dr Danielle ensures that every aspect of her patients’ health is thoughtfully addressed. She understands the intricate nature of fertility journeys and takes the time to tailor her approach to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Dr Sophie Genoni completed General Practitioner training in WA and recently moved to Perth from the South West. She has a special interest in women’s health and is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

She is a member of the fertility Society of Australia & New Zealand and has completed a Certificate of Women’s Health, a Certificate of Sexual and Reproductive Health, and has worked in the major Obstetric and Gynaecology departments in WA.

Dr Sophie aims to provide couples with evidence-based healthcare in a compassionate and kind way, and supports couples at all stages of their fertility journey. She enjoys working with the Oasis team to provide holistic and accessible care.

Dr Breeanna Swetman is a West Australian trained GP with a keen interest in all aspects of women’s health. After graduating from the University of Western Australia in 2009, she spent several years working in both regional and metro WA hospitals, prior to commencing specialist training in General Practice, obtaining her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Dr Bree’s current roles include work in public hospital antenatal care, general practice and fertility. This scope of work provides insight into each stage of a couples journey and facilitates a ‘whole patient’ approach to healthcare. She enjoys helping patients feel comfortable and empowered though collaborative and individualised care.

Dr Bree holds a diploma of child health and is a member of the Australian Menopause Society and the Fertility Society of Australia & New Zealand.

Dr. Minu Basra is a highly experienced General Practitioner with a special focus on fertility and women’s health. She is passionate about supporting couples on their journey to parenthood and empowering women through proactive reproductive care, including cryopreservation.

Dr. Basra began her medical career in India, where she earned her MBBS  and completed a Master’s degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Since 2008, she has dedicated her practice to women’s health, first in India and then in Australia, where she relocated with her family in 2017.

After moving to Australia, Dr. Basra pursued further training and achieved Advanced Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRANZCOG). She further expanded her expertise into family medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

In her current role as a Fertility GP at Oasis Fertility Centre, Dr. Basra is committed to bridging the gap between general practice, specialist care, and fertility services. She believes that early, collaborative, and patient-centred care can significantly improve reproductive outcomes.

Dr. Basra advocates for optimizing the health of both partners well before conception and offers compassionate, informed care from pre-conception through pregnancy and beyond. Her holistic and empathetic approach helps patients feel supported, informed, and empowered every step of the way.

Dr Danel is a highly experienced GP with a special interest in women’s health, fertility, and weight loss management. She is a member of the Fertility Society of Australia & New Zealand (FSANZ) and is passionate about providing holistic, patient-centred care.

Dr Danel attained her MBChB degree in South Africa in 1998 and worked as a general practitioner and Acting Medical Manager of a rural hospital until 2010. In 2011, she relocated to Western Australia with her husband and two children, where she continued to practise as a full-time GP. She later attained her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

In 2021, Dr Danel was appointed as a Bariatric GP, working within a multidisciplinary team to support patients through the complex journey of weight loss management. This role provided her with extensive experience in both non-surgical and surgical treatment pathways.

Through this work, Dr Danel became deeply aware of the significant impact obesity can have on people’s health and fertility. This insight led her to integrate weight management, fertility care, and women’s health into her scope of practice, with a strong focus on compassionate,individualised care.

When not working at Oasis, Dr Danel also practises at LUMA Health, where she specialises in women’s health support, with a particular interest in endometriosis.Dr Danel speaks English and is fluent in Afrikaans.

Dr Lucy Parker is a UK trained doctor who went on to complete specialist GP training in both the UK and Australia earning Fellowships of Royal College of General Practitioners from both countries. 

She has lived and worked in Western Australia for over 20 years. 

She has completed both the Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Certificate in Women’s Health. 

Dr Lucy has always had an interest in women’s health, initially working in KEMH antenatal clinics before taking 10 years away from work to raise 4 children. 

For the past 14 years Dr Lucy has specialised in pregnancy care, working in public hospital antenatal and early pregnancy assessment clinics. She also does private gynaecology surgical assisting. 

Dr Lucy has a great interest in good fertility care. She has developed a particular interest in supporting patients at the start of their pregnancy journey. 

She approaches this with compassion and kindness as well as a keen interest in the latest research and best practice.

Donor Manager 

Belinda has joined Oasis Fertility as our Donor manager with over 14 years’ experience working in Fertility and has spent over a decade coordinating fertility donor programmes, helping grow one of the largest and most trusted programmes in the state and country.

Her work seamlessly blends compassion and precision – ensuring donors and intended parents receive empathetic, expert support at every step. Over the years, she’s cultivated strong relationships with international sperm and egg banks, broadening access and collaboration to meet a wide range of family-building needs. Belinda has extensive knowledge of the legal, ethical, and emotional considerations that shape donor conception journeys for both known and unknown donor arrangements.

Belinda’s dedication has contributed to the births of over 900 babies and facilitated more than 600 donor allocations – a testament to the impact of her leadership and heart. From building robust protocols to nurturing deeply human connections, she is passionate about helping people achieve their dreams of parenthood.

Belinda continues to work closely with the donor conception information services to ensure that donor-conceived individuals and their families have access to accurate, timely, and compassionate information about their origins.

When she’s not immersed in her work, Belinda loves exploring Australia with her husband in their caravan, creating memories with her family and friends, and diving into creative pursuits like crafting and party planning. Her joyful, thoughtful approach to life shines through in everything she does – professionally and personally.

Bridget holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Anatomy & Human Biology from the University of Western Australia (UWA), a Graduate Diploma of Education from UWA, and a Master of Medical Science in Assisted Reproductive Technology from the University of Nottingham.

With a career in assisted reproductive technology beginning in the early 1990s, Bridget has extensive experience in both embryology and biochemistry. Over the course of 25 years, she has worked as an Embryologist across five Australian states and within three clinics in Western Australia. Bridget also served on the Scientists in Reproductive Technology Committee for eight years.

In 2016, Bridget transitioned to a role with the WA Department of Health, where she contributed to the Reproductive Technology Unit (RTU) and the Licensing and Accreditation Regulatory Unit (LARU). This role provided valuable insight into legislation, regulation, policy development, and quality management. Bridget is proud to be a member of the Oasis team and brings a wealth of experience to our team.

Administration Team Leader

Kristen is a warm and empathetic member of our administrative team at Oasis, bringing nearly five years of experience in the fertility field. With a strong passion for supporting patients on their fertility journey, Kristen is committed to creating a welcoming and respectful experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

With over a decade of experience in the medical field, Kristen understands the importance of helping people feel comfortable, cared for, and understood in clinical settings. Stacey has spent her entire working life in customer service with the last 13 years working in administrative roles. However, it wasn’t until she returned to Perth, after living in Karratha for 6 years, that she discovered a love of all things medical. Having worked in both general and specialist practices she developed a strong passion for IVF due to her own fertility challenges.

Stacey is always quick with a smile. Her kind and compassionate nature ensure a welcoming environment for anyone who passes through our doors. She believes that no 2 people are the same and prides herself on her outstanding customer service along with providing the best possible support to all our patients.

With her previous experience in IVF, Stacey understands the importance a strong administrative foundation provides to the clinic. She strives to be a reliable and valuable member of our team. She approaches all tasks with the same professionalism and attention to detail, no task is ever too difficult.

Emmeshe is a Patient Fertility Coordinator with over 10 years of experience in the medical field and an extensive background across multiple fertility clinics. She is known for her thorough knowledge of fertility care, exceptional attention to detail, and ability to guide patients seamlessly through complex processes.

She prides herself on delivering consistent, high-quality patient care and is particularly recognised for her empathy, clear communication, and ability to build trust during emotionally vulnerable moments.

With a naturally maternal presence and a genuine passion for supporting families, she strives to ensure every patient feels informed, safe, and genuinely cared for from start to finish. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, spending time in nature, and being around children and families, the very reason she loves being part of the fertility journey.

Executive Assistant & Oasis Foundation Manager

Yvette embarked on her journey in the medical industry in 1989, marking the beginning of a dedicated career that has spanned over three decades. Since 1990, she has worked the gynaecology field, initially serving as a secretary and progressing to the role of a practice manager.

Yvette’s passion for her work is evident in her enjoyment of interacting with patients, with a particular focus on witnessing the joy of successful pregnancies, especially for couples who have faced years of challenges in conceiving. Her commitment to excellence and a love for the dynamic atmosphere of a fast-paced team environment have been key elements in her professional approach.

Looking ahead, Yvette is eagerly anticipating the challenge of establishing and overseeing the Oasis Foundation. This foundation holds the promise of extending much-needed support to couples who might otherwise struggle to afford fertility treatment. Aligned with Dr. Baruah’s vision, she believes that fertility treatments should be accessible to everyone, and she is determined to contribute to making this vision a reality.

Beyond her professional life, Yvette Thomson wears the hat of a devoted grandma to four grandchildren. Her involvement in netball and surf lifesaving spans more than 25 years, during which she has served on various boards. These pursuits not only showcase her commitment to sports but also reflect her engagement in community activities, contributing to the betterment of the lives around her.

With over 25 years of nursing experience, Gemma, an experienced clinical nurse manager, embarked on her nursing journey by obtaining her qualification as a Registered Nurse in York, United Kingdom, in 1997. She initially specialized as a neonatal nurse for 17 years before transitioning to the field of fertility, a move that has become a fulfilling and enduring commitment.

Throughout her career, Gemma has gained a profound understanding of the impact of people development and its reflection in the delivery of superior care. Her approach involves fostering a supportive team environment, empowering each member to perform at their best, take pride in their outcomes, and ensure the achievement of high-quality, patient-focused care.

Fertility nursing has become Gemma’s passion, a realm that is both rewarding and challenging. Her strengths lie in cultivating strong relationships with couples, where she serves as an advocate, acknowledging the significant emotional journey even before individuals reach a clinic. Gemma firmly believes in providing every couple with empathetic support and understanding. She takes pride in utilizing her extensive knowledge to empower and assist them in navigating through this deeply personal and important time. Nicole has been a Registered Nurse and Midwife for over 25 years. She completed her Bachelor of Nursing at Edith Cowan University in 1994 and then proceeded to her Bachelor of Midwifery with Honours at Canterbury Christchurch College in England in 1998.

Since then she has worked in several maternity units in Perth before developing a keen interest and passion in fertility/women’s health and the promotion of a holistic approach to a patients journey. Nicole feels that the fertility space is one of uniqueness that requires a blend of compassion, knowledge and skill to help women and couples to navigate this journey.

Outside of work, Nicole loves animals especially saving endangered species.

Melissa is the dedicated and passionate Scientific director at Oasis Fertility Centre. She is incredibly proud of our state-of-the-art laboratory and takes immense pride in guiding the embryology team with a genuine care for the patient journey. Melissa is personally invested in ensuring the best outcomes for patients undergoing fertility treatment, feeling a profound responsibility for the delicate handling of patients’ embryos, eggs, and sperm. 

With her meticulous attention to detail, Melissa strives for excellence in the lab’s equipment and technology, the skillset of her embryology team, and the overall outcomes for patients at Oasis. Her thirst for knowledge keeps her at the forefront of technological advancements and research in the field. Committed to ethical practices, Melissa aims to increase transparency and demystify the traditional black box of embryology labs.

With over a decade of clinical experience in various IVF units in Australia, Melissa directs the operations of the Oasis Embryology and Andrology Laboratory. Melissa was admitted to the Register of Certified Medical Laboratory Practitioners as a Clinical Scientist under the authority of The Australian Council for the Certification of the Medical Laboratory Scientific Workforce.

She holds a Masters degree in Human Biology, and her research, focusing on the biochemistry of women undergoing IVF and in early pregnancy, has been internationally published and presented at the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand’s (FSANZ) conference.

Melissa’s research focus shifted to time-lapse incubation technology and non-invasive embryo deselection approaches. She was notably an invited speaker at the Scientists in Reproductive Technology (SIRT) conference and has held academic roles at Edith Cowan University, contributing to the education of postgraduate students in Assisted Reproduction and undergraduate students in Human Reproduction.

A member of the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand, Scientists in Reproductive Technology, and the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists, Melissa’s continuous drive for excellence and patient-centred outcomes defines her scientific approach at Oasis Fertility Centre. Vicky’s journey in the field of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) is both personal and professional. She is a Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (CMLS) who holds a Master’s in Reproductive Medicine, a Bachelor of Science (Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology) and an Honours degree.

With extensive clinical experience all across Australia she has expertise in a full suite of laboratory services such as andrology, embryology, Preimplantation Genetic Testing and time-lapse incubation coupled with a strong focus on quality management. This includes key areas like accreditation compliance, patient services, patient education, and auditing. Her passion for the field is further evident in her keen interest in oocyte vitrification and blastocyst biopsies.


Vicky’s decision to join Oasis Fertility Centre stems from her commitment to applying the latest cutting-edge technology while keeping ART inclusive and accessible, with the vision of supporting as many families as possible. Her personal experience with severe endometriosis, and successful IVF treatment, deeply informs her dedication to enhancing patient care and the overall patient experience.

Jaime is committed to both excellence and compassion in her role as a Acting Laboratory Manager. Believing wholeheartedly that every patient deserves a team that goes above and beyond, Jaime approaches each case with a steadfast determination to achieve the best possible outcomes. Skilled in every aspect of Embryology and Andrology, including the intricate process of embryo biopsy for pre-implantation genetic testing, Jaime has experience working in multiple IVF units across Australia and dedicates herself to providing meticulous care and precision in every procedure.

Niamh is an experienced embryologist who has worked across multiple IVF clinics in
Ireland and is now based at Oasis Fertility Centre in Perth. She is a dedicated embryologist
with over 7 years of experience across a diverse range of embryology and andrology
procedures. Niamh graduated from University College Dublin with First Class Honours in
Animal Science before completing a Master’s degree focused on reproductive physiology,
graduating with distinction. She is passionate about combining scientific excellence with
compassionate patient care and takes pride in supporting individuals and couples
throughout their fertility journey.

Niamh is affiliated with the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ), the
Society for Reproductive Technology (SIRT), and the Australian Institute of Medical and

Clare Deuchar is an experienced embryologist with over 15 years in assisted reproductive technology, having worked in IVF since 2008. She holds a degree in Molecular Biology and has worked across every aspect of the IVF laboratory, developing deep expertise in embryo culture, embryo assessment, micromanipulation, cryopreservation and quality management. Clare is especially skilled in the ICSI procedure, bringing a calm, precise and technically excellent approach to this delicate work.

Throughout her career, Clare has been committed to providing the highest standard of laboratory care, recognising the vital role embryologists play in every patient's fertility journey. She combines technical excellence with a calm, compassionate approach, and values working closely with the multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.Having held a senior embryologist position for many years, Clare has developed a strong interest in mentoring colleagues, maintaining high laboratory standards and contributing to continuous quality improvement.
