Dr Philip Rowlands

Dr Philip Rowlands is a highly experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 25 years clinical experience. He graduated from Dundee University in Scotland and undertook higher Specialist Training in O&G in England being awarded the Certificate of Completed Specialist Training (CCST). He had additional training in minimal access surgery for 2 years and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (FRCS Ed) after pursuing further training in all aspects of pelvic surgery.

Following immigration to Australia, Dr Rowlands was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of O&G (FRANZCOG) in 2007 and subsequently, in recognition of his services and contribution to the speciality of O&G, was recommended for and awarded Fellowship of the London Royal College of O&G (FRCOG).

Dr Rowlands was Head of Kaleeya Hospital O&G Department, Fremantle Health Service, for over 7 years and was responsible for implementing an elective gynaecological service, as well as medium to high risk obstetric provision, with a hospital birth rate of 1400 babies per annum.

Dr Rowlands has an extensive fertility background, being mentored by Professor John Yovich (the pioneer of IVF in WA) in Reproductive Medicine and corrective pelvic surgery. He is highly skilled in all aspects of ART (Assisted Reproductive Treatment), including IVF, controlled ovarian stimulation programming, transvaginal egg collections, HyCoSy, IUI, MESA/TESA & embryo transfers.

Dr Rowlands continued to work in reproductive medicine for 10 years. During this time he prescribed over 4000 cycles of IVF, together with performing a corresponding number of egg collections and embryo transfers.

He served a 2 year surgical fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery enabling him to perform the most complex endoscopic surgeries (Level 5/6) in Australia. He excels in laparoscopic surgery treating advanced stage endometriosis, multiple myomectomies (removal of fibroids), pelvic reconstructive surgeries and hysteroscopic procedures such as septoplasty and intrauterine adhesiolysis. Dr Rowlands also performs laparoscopic cervical cerclage, as well as vaginal cervical cerclage for patients with risk factors for pre-term labour.

In addition to working in Fertility Medicine at Oasis Fertility Centre, Dr Rowlands also has a thriving Obstetric and Gynaecology private practice in Duncraig and is able to provide ongoing obstetric care and delivery. He is well versed in caring for patients who have conceived following ART, with fertility patients forming a large percentage of his obstetric practice. Dr Rowlands is proud to of delivered over 9,000 babies.
